Hello! Thanks for stopping by. You can come in and take a look around or let me tell you a little about myself and Nest Home.

My name is Randy Hess and I was a freelance illustrator after graduating Virginia Commonwealth University. I slowly gravitated to painting on my own and getting more involved in framing, furniture, antique restoration. I currently show my paintings with ADA gallery in Richmond, VA. I moved to Norfolk in 2008 after meeting a rather lovely lady. Soon after, I realized it was time to work for myself. NEST HOME came to fruition in December 2012.

I have close to 15 years experience custom framing. From diplomas to art prints to museum pieces to restoring 18th century frames. I especially enjoy customizing a frame to a clients needs. Whether it is carving, water gilding, and/or applying a specialty finish. A frame is like clothing. A lot of art is naked without it. The frame doesn't make it better. Clothes don't make us better. They protect and serve the purpose of presentation.

Other services include custom furniture pieces, museum crating and pedestal making, art installation for corporate and private clients. Some of those clients include: Capital One, Sentara, Chrysler Museum, Heritage Museum and Gardens, Land America, Wachovia, VCU, University of Richmond, Black Dog Gallery (floor cloths), MOCA, Norfolk Southern, National agricultural Agency.

Some of the other fun things Nest Home offers are custom gifts, cards from Eggpress in Portland, engaging and playful 'toys' that even the parents will enjoy by Dutch designers Studio Roof. And Uncle Goose. Fantastically designed blocks.

Thanks for coming by and supporting your local small businesses. We need you. Stop by the shop for a real chat sometime.
